Flint Hills Homestead

Project ongoing

Many original furnishings remain, including the grand piano and stately bookcase in the formal living room, providing an incredible foundation to build upon. Rather than introducing anything that feels out of place, we’re carefully selecting pieces that complement the home’s historic bones—timeworn leathers, antique rugs, and hand-crafted wood furniture that already feel as if they belong.

To reflect the beauty of the surrounding prairie, we’re working with a palette of earthy neutrals, deep greens, and soft blues, echoing the shifting light and vast landscapes outside. Textural depth is key to making the interiors feel inviting rather than overly preserved. Linen and wool upholstery, aged brass fixtures, and natural stone surfaces are being incorporated to bring warmth and authenticity.

The result is a home will feel as enduring as the limestone walls that frame it— steeped in history, yet effortlessly welcoming.

The Warren House, an 1880s stone farmhouse in the Flint Hills, is a project rooted in both preservation and personalization. The Kansas City-native owner, whose family has deep ties to Midwest cattle ranching, wanted to honor the home’s rich history while making it feel like her own. The design approach will focus on respecting the home’s past while layering in new elements that enhance its character and livability.
